2-8-11 Miami Heat v Indiana Pacers

Remembering the pass Miami has a reason to play hard tonight. The Heat’s last game against the Pacers left a pretty ugly scar but was the beginning of the Heat’s transformation into a championship team.

LeBron James # 6 gets an easy first score but Pacer’s Roy Hibbert # 55 throws down at the other end. Zydrunas Ilgauskas # 11 gets a good block when he takes a piece of Hibbert’s ball and sends # 55 to the line but Z gets the rebound and is blocking again. Nice lob from LeBron to Chris Bosh # 1… Pacers’ Mike Dunleavy # 17 is out with 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes of the game. Josh McRoberts # 32 keeps the pace fast. LeBron gains a secure grip on the gall and slams it into the basket to take the Heat into the lead 15-16… A rebound gives the Pacers a chance to add 3 and gain the lead 19-16… Wade jumps and hangs suspended in slow motion in the air trying to find an open team mate – unsuccessful.
A steal by LeBron starts a roll… Next Chalmers makes a steal… Then Danny Granger # 33 knocks Mario Chalmers down and sends him to the line… LeBron sees an opening and heads through the tunnel but the short cut ends him up at the line… Joel Anthony’s pass to James Jones in the corner adds 3 but the Pacers’ Hibbert # 55 races back with a response. The first quarter ends 29-33 with the Heat leading by 4.

Mike Miller # 13 steps into the road way to stop Pacers’ # 24 Paul George but he gets pass the road block… LeBron gets his 2nd triple… Wade gets the basket and the foul for 3 but the Heat is trailing 48-44. Wade throws a long shot to the basket or to LeBron but misses both… LeBron is racing against 3 pacers then passes to Chalmers but no good he misses 3. The score remains 60-52 with the heat trailing… A pass from Chalmers to LeBron gets a dunk but the Heat is still trailing by 3 at half time 66-63.

In the 3rd quarter Z # 11 keeps the Pacers from scoring. A turn over to the Pacers gives them the ball but a 3 second violation gives the ball back to Miami… A 3-pointer by Danny Granger # 33 puts the Pacers up 71-69. LeBron has a near turn-over but shoots a basket just in time. Chalmers adds 3 from the corner. Miami’s 5th turnover gives the Pacers a 3-pointer, but a block by LeBron keeps the Pacer from another score.

The score is tight with the Pacers in the lead 101-92. Then Bosh gets one in for 2 but the Pacers respond with a dunk over Eric Dampier keeping the lead 101-96. With 6 and a half minutes in the 4th quarter a Pacer turnover gives Mike Miller # 13 an opportunity for 3. Then Bosh at the line adds another and moves the heat within 1 point. Wade’s shot is shot but Dampier # 25 races up to put it in. Now Miami is leading by 1.

A pass from LeBron to Wade results in a turnover but close defense keeps the Pacers from scoring. With 2 minutes an air ball by Mc Roberts gives LeBron an opportunity to push the lead ahead 106-110. With1:39 minutes left, Roy Hibbert is out of the game but the Pacers race back within 3 of the Heat. With .8 seconds the score is 112 to 113 and LeBron is at the line. He adds 2. What! A 5- second violation on Indiana with 6.5 seconds, Now Eddie House goes to the line. Naturally he adds 2 to give Miami another win 112-117 but the Pacers played an impressive game.

2-6-11 Miami Heat v Los Angeles Clippers

On this Super Bowl Sunday the Miami Heat takes on the Los Angeles Clippers. Kid’s day at the Miami Arena gives the grown-ups a time out for some family time.

Blake Griffin # 32 is fired up and charges into the camera. Then its LeBron’s turn to charge into the camera but not until he drives the ball in for 2 points. Mike Miller’s pass interference stops Blake Griffin but sends him to the line. Blake comes back from the line with an empty score…. LeBron James’ pass to Mario Chalmers # 15 gets stolen by Eric Bledsoe # 12. At the end of the 1st quarter Miami is leading by 1 at 19:20

Bosh is stripped in the paint sending him to the line…and Bledsoe puts Dewayne Wade # 3 on the floor. When the Clippers lose the ball to the Heat it sends the race to the other end but then the Clippers steal it back and it’s a turn around again. After a number of misses D. Wade finally puts it in to push Miami a little further in the lead 27-34.

A pass from Wade to Chris Bosh # 1 sends him accelerating in flight to the rim. With tight defense in the paint Bosh gets a shot clock violation… Clippers’ Baron Davis # 5 pulls off a 3 then Heat’s Mike Miller # 13 shoots 3 from the corner… LeBron takes a brief trip down on the floor but is up quick; he turns and loses balance but not before getting the ball up and in. A bounce pass to James Jones # 22 adds 3 to the Heat score…Davis takes the ball from the Heat and races down to the Clippers’ basket – goal tending is called – (that’s the act of touching or deflecting a basketball that is on its downward path toward the basket or within the rim of the basket) but he was not making that basket anyway… Heat still leads at the end of the 2nd quarter 36-47.

Davis takes a shot over Zydrunas Ilgauskas # 11 and adds 2 to the Clippers’ score. DeAndre Jordan # 9 hits Bosh taking him to the line… Bosh on the move does an impressive catch then turns in the air to the basket but is fouled – the bread comes out of the oven too soon… But later Bosh plays payback when a spin sends Blake down to the ground. Now it’s a pushing game. Clippers # 50 Ike Diogu pushes Heat # 50 Joel Anthony sending him down. Another foul by Diogu adds his 5th foul.

The Heat turns over the ball to the Clippers but then it comes back to LeBron and then to Miller for 3 taking the score 53-67. But Blake Griffin # 32 comes back with a vengeance and steals the ball from LeBron and races down court for a drunk-amatic dunk… A triple by Jones gives the Heat a 14 point lead 56-70. The Clippers add five points to end the 3rd quarter 61-70.

Wade sneaks into the paint and he’s there at the basket but he surprises us by sending the ball back out to Eddie House in the corner for 3 making his 50th triple… Wade passes to Z # 11 under the basket and z reaches up and puts it in… Baron Davis # 5 thought he had a slam dunk but did not know the shot blocker Joel Anthony # 50 was behind him. “Not this time.”

Bosh is always upright but finds himself sliding under the table… Eddie House #55 is behind Blake who is headed to the basket but ends up on the floor. The fans get inflamed. The refs take time to review the replay. A flagrant foul is called on Eddie House then coach Eric Spoelstra gets a technical foul standing up for his team. Yea, Go Team. Sometimes you have to play tough to get a little respect; just know when to hold them and when to fold them.

LeBron streaks to the basket and hangs in the air, taking the score to 67-83. Then House adds 3… now LeBron is in the air again; he bats the ball out to keep the clippers from scoring. “That’s the way we do it.” House for another 3 (67-91). Blake goes out with foul # 3… Now, Bosh is in trouble against three defenders in the paint- a smart pass to Joel Anthony gets it in for 2. Another long shot by House takes Miami 21 points in the lead 71-95 with minutes left in the 4th quarter. Miami pulls off another win with a final score of 79-97.

This game ends but the Super Bowl game party begins with Aaron Rogers getting some compliments before the game. Eddie House goes with the Wisconsin Packers but James Jones says the Pittsburg Stealers have more experience. Wade says the best team will win. We’ll see. All I know is that the Super Bowl should be in Miami on this beautiful sunny day.

2-4-11 Miami Heat @ Charlotte Bobcats

Michael Jordan on the sidelines is mouthing to the Bobcats who are all over LeBron but obstacles do not stop the champ.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas # 11 shoots up and in to put Miami on the score board. James Jones # 22 then adds 3 more to the score board. It’s Z # 11 again for 2. Then Z again and at the line Z is hot… A steal by the Bobcats but the thieves don’t get very far. Mario Chalmers chases them down and takes back the goods. Over in the corner Z is ready for the pass and his rhythm is on target, adding 2 more to the score then LeBron adds 3. Here comes Wade zigging and zagging down the middle into the paint and adds 2. But Miami is trailing 15-19. Chalmers gets warmed up with a 3. Then James Jones adds 3. A block foul takes LeBron to the line and that puts the Heat into the lead 29-26. Wade demonstrates his turn around shot… Then it’s Miller time for 3 to keep Miami in the lead.

A Heat ball throw away turns the race to the other end. But not for long. Another steal sends everyone back towards the Heat basket with Wade in the lead heading to the hoop. He’s approaching the take off strip but wait there’s another plane on the runway. Hey get out of the way. He’s not backing down. “I’m Steven Jackson and I’m not moving,” Determined that Wade will not get to the basket; Jackson tries to rip Wade’s head off. “Hey Michael Jordon, you might want to put a lease on this man, he’s wild. Add some finesse and style to his talents. Jackson gets a flagrant foul call and storms off the floor with arms waving, head bopping and lips flapping, “That’s not right.” (Like a Bobcat bobble doll).

Jerald Wallace, Bobcats # 3 adds 2 to tie the score. Then Z gets his 3rd personal foul with 8:35 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Charlotte is doing some good shooting and that is how you win. Miller with a long 2 and a pass from Wade to House adds 3 more to the score and gives Miami its first five point lead 42-37. An offensive foul call on LeBron and 2 dunks by Charlotte brings them within 1 point of the Heat. Wade gets 2 points and another shot from the foul line pushing the score back up. Then Chalmers gives Jackson some of his own medicine when he takes him down with a foul. Wade comes back and staggers through adversity in the paint for 2.

An attempted steal from LeBron but the would-be-robber does not get far…Then Bosh goes into the paint for 2, but Jackson won’t go away he’s back with 3. Miller says you can do it, I can do it too and adds 3 to the score just before half-time to put Miami in the lead 59-55.

Bosh throws up a basket that starts to go in but then heads back out but not before Chalmers goes up to keep it in. Matt Carroll jumps up and throws an impressive over the left shoulder hook that goes in over Z. Then Z responds with 2 to advance the score 69-66. Boris Diaw # 32 fouls sending Wade to the free throw line as the 3rd quarter closes in.

Henderson fouls trying to take the ball from Bosh. “You should not have done that.” Bosh gets hot in the paint and on the line… Then with under 2 minutes in the game Bosh steals the ball… and the Heat goes on to steal the game with a final score of 109-97.

2-3-11 Miami Heat @ Orlando Magic

Dwight Howard gets the 1st foul and LeBron James # 6 puts Miami on the score board. A behind-the-back pass takes Bosh to the line. Then a blocking foul by Orlando’s Jason Richardson # 23 adds 2 at the line by LeBron. A bouncing pass to LeBron adds to his 16 points in 8 minutes. James Jones # 22 gets 3 then Mario Chalmers # 15 gets 3. The first quarter ends 30-26

Eddie House # 55 starts the 2nd quarter with a 3 pointer. Juwan Howard # 5 does a 180 degree turn/jump shot to advance the score. Dewayne Wade # 3 gets the rebound then races to the other end but finds himself feet first in the stands with the fans. House makes a smart pass to Dampier # 25 under the basket.

With a little over a minute left in the 2nd quarter Wade surrounded by adversaries on 3 sides, dribbles to the floor and gets the foul to advance the score 51-44 at the line. Dwight Howard is hot. At the Amway Center in Orlando Chris Bosh # 1 hooks a left hand over the head.
Miller for 3 takes the score 68-55. Then Miller nearly runs out of the stadium with passion after a Heat ball. .. Wade falls from the sky on his tailbone and rolls then stops. There is a gasp and then silence as the we wait for the outcome. Wade lingers for awhile then makes his way to the locker room but his will to play is stronger than what ails the body. He is back before the night is out.

It’s a magical night for LeBron as he shoots a season high of 51 points. That puts an exclamation point on the comment that LeBron is not a competitor. Need we say more!!! The best revenge is to excel. He now reigns among the greats, and there have only been a handful of other Heat players who have shot more than 50 points in a game, including our D. Wade. The Heat goes on for another win 104-100.

1-28-11 Miami Heat v Detroit Pistons

LeBron goes to the floor and stays for a minute that seems like an eternity. I was holding my breath. But the play continued. “Hey, a man is down in the back court.” Now the ball is coming back and they’re about to run over him. He gets no respect, but he does get up and that brings back my joy for living. I forgot what happened in the rest of the game! But I did have a nice time at Dewar’s after the game.

1-22-11 Miami Heat v Toronto Raptors

Chris Bosh #1 with an ankle sprain and Dewayne Wade #3 with a migraine are out. “Get me out of here.” Be careful what you ask for you might get it. Joel Anthony # 50 “Mr. Shot Blocker” is in. But it takes a few minutes for the Heat to get comfortable with the ball. James Jones adds 3 to the Heat score. That’s a start. A pass from LeBron James # 6 to Mike Miller # 13 gets Miller warmed up with 3. Anthony gets warmed up with a block. A back door from Carlos Arroyo # 8 to LeBron adds 2. Then Miller steps into the zone with 3 triples… The shot clock is running down, the rush leads to traveling… With Miami leading 19-38 Miller adds 3 with confidence. Joel gets the rebound and gives it to Eddie House # 55 for another 3. Miller at the line and jump shots for 2 – confidence is growing. House to Miller for 3. Team play with the duo Miller and House makes it Miller’s House. (32-54) LeBron gets the rebound and motors down the court – look out the train is coming – Do not stop on the tracks. LeBron for 3. Then Miller for 3. (32-60). Then LeBron plays catch me if you can as he passes to Joel under the basket – wide open.

LeBron takes a fall but jumps up for a pass from Miller then gallops to the basket but draws a foul. At half time Heat is ahead 40-66. A cut on the arm takes LeBron to the sideline for ointment. Raptors # 7 Andrea Bargnani gets hot in the 3th quarter with a long 3. House gets another 3 to take the score to 73-92.

DeMar DeRozan # 10 slides through double Heat defense to advance the score. LeBron walks calmly then charges as the end of the 3rd quarter draws near. In the 4th quarter Miller lands on the floor as he fouls DeRozan. When the score board reaches 83-98 it finds Miller reaching for his 5th foul. Bargnani goes on for a 3 pointer; then Chalmers answers, saying, “Don’t feel so all alone, I’ve got 3 of my own.”

Joel Anthony with tight defense on Bargnani forces a travel. With the score at 94-102 Jose Calderon # 8 goes to the floor and stays there with 5:46 minutes left. LeBron “Skywalker” takes a deep breath then starts his climb up the elevator. House adds another 3 taking the score to 101-116. In the end, the Heat boils over with 120 points leaving the Raptors in the dust with 103. It was a Miller high night with 32 points and 6 rebounds.

1-18-11 Miami Heat v Atlanta Hawks

Look out, LeBron James # 6 is coming in for a landing to the basket but… he gets ambushed in the paint. This calls for a time-out. Over there on the bench, Chris Bosh # 1 out with a sprain ankle puts on a show stopper in his stylish black suit with a pink shirt. Heat ball but the shot clock runs out. Now Atlanta does a bounce pass that adds 2 to the score board. Can you call time out before the game starts? Miami is a little disconcerted with some missed shots, a player on the floor, plus Atlanta is wide open and gets 3 rebounds. Thank goodness, Atlanta calls a time out that gives the Heat time to regroup. Josh Smith # 5 fouls LeBron as he skips into a dribble. But LeBron knows to shoot up and in. Now the fast ball movement is too fast and the ball is out.

Wade to the basket – but he doesn’t get there instead he gets hammered. At the line, Wade pauses to take a breather, calm and steady – it’s in. Miami’s Erick Dampier # 25 and Atlanta’s Josh Powell # 12 duke it out in the air when Dampier climbs to the basket but Powell bats the ball out… The shot clock runs out for Atlanta and the basket does not count… Now Wade sneaks into the paint and it’s in.
LeBron gets a call for traveling – he was definitely on a journey to the rim. The Heat looks soft compared to Atlanta aggressively attacking the rim; the ball goes over the back board. Wade takes a leap up the stairs to the hoop but he gets pushed off the ladder and down the stairs. That’s not nice to treat the man like that on his birthday. But Miami’s Joel Anthony # 50 to the rescue he teaches Joe Johnson #2 a lesson, no dunk here, buddy. And the team follows suit, House for 3 then LeBron picks their pocket. He doesn’t get the basket but he gets the rebound… At the line, LeBron takes a breather to slow it down. Calm and steady, it’s up and in.

Atlanta is determined to stop Wade – Jason Collins # 34 grabs Wade as he starts a climb up the ladder to the hoop. But Wade says not to worry. He squats then shoots up and it’s in. When Wade draws a foul on Collins, he demonstrates the art of shooting to take Miami into the lead. (41:42) Atlanta’s Mike Bibby # 10 is hot with 3’s. But Miami’s James Jones # 22 responds with 3 and at the end of the 3rd quarter Eddie House # 55 throws a long shot from the corner for 3. The Hawks attempt to fly away with the score but Joel Anthony’s good timing, vision, & rhythm puts a stop to that. The Haws now lead by 1 (60:59). The 4th quarter takes Al Horford, Hawks # 15 out of the game with an ankle sprain. LeBron and Chalmers are hustling. Josh Smith # 5 and Joel Anthony step up the ladder in tandem as Anthony gets his 4th foul. With nearly 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter Bibby # 10 gets his 4th triple of the night… and Joel Anthony gets his 5th foul.

The Hawks are leading 75:74 with seconds in the game and the Hawks have the ball. A foul in the back court takes LeBron to the line for 2, then another at the line to put Miami in the lead 75:77. But a last shot by the Hawks takes the game into over-time. Then with 34 seconds left in overtime the score is tied again at 89:89. A last opportunity passes over and the Hawks fly away with a win. (89:93)

1-15-11 Miami Heat @ Chicago Bulls

21,000 fans come out to the United Center in Chicago to see our Miami Heat take on their Chicago Bulls. The market wasn’t open on this Saturday night but it was a gain for the bulls, just barely. Dewayne Wade # 3 was shooting up and in and climbing over rivals in the paint on his way up to the basket and Chris Bosh # 1 was adding to the score but Chicago was tripling. Wade drew a blocking foul on Kurt Thomas # 40, a former Heat player, and added 2 at the line, then Wade got his first foul when butts bumped. That was a smooth block by Bosh then pass to Carlos Arroyo # 8 and then to James Jones for 3; it tied the score 15:15. The Heat was trying to warm up in the Windy City. Just before half time Wade made a dunk that left him swinging around the rim. Miami went on a roll in the third quarter and brought that 12-point Chicago lead to a tie score. But when Wade got his 4th foul on Taj Gibson #22 charging to the basket we had to take him out. Then it was Miller time (Mike Miller # 11). But blocks by Derrick Rose #1 shut down and kept the Heat from scoring while C.J. Watson # 32 goes for 3. So we had to put House #55 & Joel Anthony # 50 on Rose. With almost 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter Bosh suffers a left ankle sprain. That made Wade up his game; first a block then a triple and another triple and another triple, Wade was in the furnace. But when all was said and done, with 20 seconds left, a missed rebound by the Heat gave the Bulls an opportunity to get a 3 pointer, now the Heat is down by 3 and unable to recover. Heat loses 96:99. O What a Night.
