LeBron James # 6 and Jrue Holiday #11 shoot to put the two teams on the scoreboard. (2-3) then it’s off to the races. Zydrunas Ilgauskas # 11 gets a rebound then LeBron surrounded by 3 76ers throws for 2. Elton Brand # 42 rolls one in. Heat loses the ball to the 76ers but LeBron charges after the thief, fouling and sending Andre Iguodala # 9 to the line. (4-7). Holiday in the paint on his way to the basket sends a behind-the-back pass to Jrue Holiday # 11, who goes up for 2. ( 4-11). A Heat shot clock violation a 3-pointer by Iguodala # 9 keeps Miami behind (4-14). Bosh shoots in the paint adding 2 to bring Miami within 10 of the 76ers. A 76er sneaks into the paint to take their score to 20. Spencer Hawes # 00 fouls Bosh sending him to the line, adding 2. Joel Anthony # 50 comes in and stops Brand # 42 from scoring. A 2nd foul on LeBron takes him out of the game. (8-20). Philly goes on to push the score up to the widest lead in the play-off series. Wade goes up to the rim but Tony Battie # 4 blocks him. Bosh in the paint catches a pass and adds 2. A Philly turnover results in a 3-pointer by Wade from the corner. A goal tending call on Anthony adds to the 76ers’ score 13-23. Mario Chalmers 3 15 from the corner adds 3 as the 1st quarter winds down with Miami trailing 16-28.
LeBron gets hit in the head by Evan Turner’s body contact. Then Turner scores over LeBron. (16-30). Jrue Holiday’s 2nd foul takes him out and brings Iguodala # 9 back in the game. LeBron goes into the paint up the middle to score and draws the foul adding an extra point 19-30. Iguodala hits a long 3. (19-33). James Jones # 22 is called for stepping out of bounds when Evan Turner # 12 goes flying by as Jones prepares to shoot. Then after the shot, Thaddeus Young # 21 comes at Jones yapping his 2 cents worth. James Jones, fed up with Young’s aggressive in your face sidelines show, pushes back to defend his territory and gets a foul call. Brand # 42 shoots over Bosh 21-37. Bosh shoots open for 2 (23-37). Young gets inside the paint to add 2. (23-39). A rebound by LeBron and pass to Wade at the other end, results in a basket. (25-39). James Jones 3 22 throws a triple reducing the 76ers’ lead to 11. (28-39). With perfect timing Wade steps in with a steal to get the action going then goes on for 2. Elton Brand throws; Joel Anthony # 50 gets the rebound. Mario Chalmers # 15 hits a 3-pointer. The 76ers’ lead is diminishing. Wade races into the paint for 2 (37-41). Brand draws his 1st foul on Wade sending him to the floor. Wade looks up from the floor with that look. “Hey Wade, don’t get mad, get even.” Wade goes on to do just that. Wade shoots over Jrue Holiday for 3. (39-41). Then after an air ball by the 76ers, Wade draws a 3rd foul on Holiday and goes to the line to tie the score 41-41. With just under 3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, Wade shoots sending Miami into the lead 43-41. A turnover by the 76ers goes to Wade then he speeds to the basket where LeBron meets the ball at the rim just in time to slam it in. Wade jumps for 2 adding his 14th point this quarter. Heat fans at home are shouting “Defense, Defense,” when the Heat, aggressively jumping loses a rebound to the 76ers. Then Wade against Spencer Hawes # 00 keeps the shot out of the basket. Good Heat defense forces Turner to take a tough shot, still he adds 2.
Coming back after half time the score is like a roller coaster. Z # 11 fouls Hawes 00 sending the 76ers up with a 1-point lead. Then Z going up to the rim is fouled and at the line brings the score back to a tie. Brand #42 draws a foul on LeBron as he heads to the rim, sending the 76ers up by 1. (49-50). Z # 11 gets a 2nd foul as he scrambles for a rebound sending Brand # 42 to the line. Wade’s 2-pointer leaves the Heat trailing by 1. Then Iguodala # 9 sneaks in to score. An out of bounds ball off the leg of Holiday sends the ball to the Heat. Mike Bibby gets 2 rebounds in a row. Iguodala # 9 grabs Joel Anthony’s arm as he goes up to the basket. Anthony at the line adds 2. With good anticipation, Wade draws a foul by Iguodala # 9. (54-56). An offensive foul sends the 76ers ball back to Miami. Under the basket, Turner # 12 is wide open. Then Bosh is wide open and gains 2 from the side. (56-58). The shot clock runs out on Hawes 00. Wade passes to Bosh who jumps for 2 to tie the score. LeBron draws a foul on Thaddeus Young # 21 sending LeBron to the line to push Miami to a 2-point lead. (60-58). Hawes ties the Heat again at 60-60. After a turnover, LeBron adds 3 to put Miami on top by 1. LeBron holds the ball as the clock runs down from 24 to 4 seconds then throws up over his back and in, drawing a foul. At the line, LeBron adds 1. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Miami leads 66-64.
Brand’s jumper ties the score 66-66. LeBron responds with 2 pushing Miami back into the lead. A rebound to Mario Chalmers, then LeBron gets the basket and a 5th personal foul call on Iguodala. (71-66). Coach Erik Spoelstra walks the floor along the sidelines. A steal from LeBron sends the action back to the other end with the 76ers in hot pursuit. James Jones knocks down a long 2 from the corner increasing Miami’s lead to 7. (73-66). A Heat steal goes back to the 76ers. Bosh goes up and gets the rebound racing to the other end, leaving Wade getting up off the floor. Holiday drives into the paint for 2 making it a 5-point game with 8 minutes in the 4th quarter. LeBron cleans up a shot to give Miami a 5-point lead 75 -70. A 3-point shot is thrown by Williams, and then followed by another 2 pointer tying the score at 75 with 6:34 minutes in the 4th quarter. As Bosh starts to go up Turner grabs the ball and heads to the other end – But Wade says, “Gimmie,” as he takes the ball back. James goes down the lane but Hawes # 00 gets a piece of his neck. LeBron is not happy with Hawes but Bosh calmly walks between the two players deflecting the conflict. LeBron goes to the line giving Miami a 1-point lead. The shot clock runs out for the 76ers. Anthony grabs Bosh’s rebound with 4:06 minutes. Williams draws a foul on Bosh. Then a foul sends LeBron to the line. A foul on James Jones sends the ball to the 76ers. Bosh is holding down some serious defense under the basket blocking both Williams and Turner. LeBron James, Joel Anthony and James Jones all jump at the basket to put a stop to the 76ers’ attempt to score. (78-76) Miami’s defense gets 5 blocks. LeBron shoots 2 over Iguodala to give Miami a 4- point lead with 1:53 left in the game. A turn over by the 76ers sends the ball to Miami. James goes to the basket and Wade cleans up adding 2. (82-76). However, Turner responds with 2. (82-78) Then, Holiday makes a 3 with 45 seconds in the game; Miami leads by 1 point. (82-81). With 23 seconds, Philly gets Wade’s rebound and Williams # 23 shoots 3 putting Philadelphia ahead by 2 and 8 seconds left in the game. It all boils down to the final point. LeBron goes up but Brand gets a piece of the ball sending it to a 76er. With 2 seconds Williams # 12 goes to the line and adds 2 giving the 76ers a 4-point lead with only 2 seconds left. Miami Heat loses playoff game # 4 with a final score 82-86.
During the wire at half time, the 76ers’ coach said, “They push hard in the 4th quarter – that’s what they do.” With nothing to lose and desperate the 76ers pushed back hard in the 4th quarter. In the post-game interview, Lou Williams # 23 said to the reporter, “We got heart. It all depended on my shot, I had to roll.”
Heat fans have long faces but feel some gratitude knowing that the Heat will return to Miami for a 5th playoff game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to give them another dose of the Heat’s thrilling performance to satisfy their addiction to drama.
