Miami Heat v Boston Celtics 4/24/12

The Heat loses the ball to the Celtics, but gets it back. Shane Battier fires for 3 and its good to put Miami on the board after a minute and half into the game (3-0). The big 3,  LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dewayne Wade are  all on the bench. A rebound leads to a jump ball between Dexter Pittman # 45  and Pierce. Mike Miller’s rhythm is off on two open 3′s. A behind the back bounce pass is impressive but not productive for Boston (3-0). Dexter Pitman  hits 2 with an over the shoulder hook. A defensive 3 second violation is called on Boston. A turnover from Heat to Boston goes back to the Heat then out-of-bounds with 7:54 remaining in Q 1. Boston has not left the starting gate. The score is still  at zero.  Offensive foul on Pitman  with five minutes left in Q1. Boston is still at the starting gate with a broken horse. Mario Chalmers # 15 skips into the paint with a jump to the basket. Boston’s energy is down, they can’t get up because the 3 stars are on the bench. The energy that the 3-kings bring to the game is missing. Boston is dealing with a mind game, they are looking for what is not there. “Coach, who am I guarding if LeBron, Wade, and Bosh are not in the game?” The game is not the same.  But a travel sends Boston’s ball to Miami. Battier hits 2 (11-0). Pitman slams out what Boston tries to get in. After 6 minutes Pierce # 34 hits 2 to get Boston out of the starting gate.  Marquis Daniels# 4 in his neon green shoes adds energy to the game while, helping the environment. A three-second violation called on Heat. Where’s Miami’s defense? At the other side of the court (11-4). A steal by Boston, the sleeping giant is waking up (11-4).  The Heat with 8 turnovers to the Celtics’ 6. Pitman goes up for 2, no good, but he gets the rebound and gets it in  on the second attempt (13-4).   Pierce for 3, no good, rebound to Haslem. Chalmers with the rebound heads to the other end. Heat loses ball to Celtics but Heats gets it back.  Battier to Cole for 2 (17-10) Avery Bradley # 0 goes up but shot blocker Joel Anthony # 50 puts a stop to that action. Boston gets a new shot clock with seconds in Q1 but no score.  Boston sees its lowest scoring first quarter of the season. Boston gets a block from behind  by the Heat. A foul sends Sean Williams # 56 to the line. A lane violation causes a disruption for Miami.  Miami now sleeping, allows the Celtics to get into the paint for 2 (17-15). Q2 Juan Howard  with a fade away, but the ball fades from the rim.

Wired, coach Spoelstra says, “We need shots.” Boston says, Space the floor”. Q2 8:11. Norris Cole pulls up but it’s no good. James Jones # 22  hits a clean 3 to put Miami back in the lead 20-18.  JaJuan Johnson  # 12 gets a charging fowl from Anthony.  Jones # 22 hits a 2nd three (23-18). Keyon Dooling  # 51 fights desperately to make his way to the rim in his green neon shoes, like a weed winding through the grass. the ball rims out, keeping Boston 3 points behind.  Doolings is left on the floor holding his eye, while James Jones # 22 goes on to knock down his 3rd triple. With a cut under his right eye, Dooling heads off the floor into the locker room. Norris Cole # 30 gets his shot batted out.  Juan Howard in and out.  Daniels # 4 hits the bucket and draws the foul. Daniels hits 2 to bring Boston within 1 (26-25). Pitman throws it down hanging from the rim (32-25).  Boston’s offense goes all the way to the rim and tightens its defense. Chalmers gets inside and hits 2 (34-28). Ryan Hollins # 50 under the rim trying to get his shot up is unsuccessful, but Pitman’s 3rd foul sends Hollins to the line, no good. Half time score is a record low (34-28). Mario runs in with his head down, a  loose ball foul is called on Chalmers (34-30). Mike Miller hits 3 (37-30). A blocked shot by Pittman sends  Bradley to the line.  Haslem with a bounce pass hits 2. Dooling hits 2 (39-32). Brandley runs all the way from the south pole to the north pole (42-34). Pitman jumps to the rim adding 2 (44-34). Mike Miller hits 3 (42-32).  Heat has a ten point lead (46-36)  3Q  with 5:52 remaining in Q3.  A rebound puts Drew St and Anthony  # 50 in a tangle, resulting in a jump ball. Despite the Heat’s tight defense, Sasha Pavlovic hits 2 to bring Boston’s score within 4 (46-42). The Heat with 3 seconds on the shot clock gets a fresh shot clock 2:55 Q3 (46-44). Terrell Harris  brings defensive energy but gets his 4th foul. Brandon Bass # 30 hits 2 to tie the score with 1:36 in Q3.   James Jones hits his 3rd triple. Now the score is tied at 48-48 with 27 seconds in Q 3. Pavlovic gives Boston a  2 point lead then Cole ties the score at 50-50 as Q 3 comes to an end.  Howard holds the ball open allowing Boston to steal and race home free for 2. Then Howard returns the steal but gets blocked by Johnson with 8:25 left. Sean Williams # 56 attempts to  dunk over Joel.  blocked by Sean Williams 52-56 7:54 Q 4.  Juan Howard snaps down a rebound then Howard hits an over the shoulder throw down. Heat gets disrupted with a steal, a  block and a dunk. Now a travel by Juan Howard  keeps his basket from counting. Boston cruises 6 ahead of the Heat (54-60) in Q4. Heat takes its first free throw in 4Q (56-60). Looking for someone to pass to, “Hey you are wide open shoot the ball.”  Heat misses an opportunity to shoot.  The ball goes to Celtics and Pavlovic hits 3 (56-65). Chalmers a 79 % free throw shooter gets 3 points at the line (58-65). Heat is down by 7. Shawn Williams # 56 get an offensive foul call. Daniels with a score and a foul goes to the line.  A little too late Heat cannot recover its rhythm with 3:44 in Q 4.  Moving too fast, a traveling violation results in Miami’s 23rd turnover.Pavlovic hits 3 to take Celtics on an 11-point lead (60-71).  Pavlovic hits another 3. (60-76). After 13 unanswered points Norris Cole hits 2 and goes to the line. Pitman slams in a dunk with 40 seconds in  the game (64-78).  Daniels gets rejected by Pitman.  Pitman scores again. Miami goes down with its lowest scoring game with a final score of 66-78. The Heat maintains its position as # 2 seed in the East behind Chicago with a record of 48-16.
